#FF Green Fashion Week

I cannot say that I am really surprised about this but I am excited that it is finally here! But to give you more info about what this event is all about, Green Fashion Week is actually a non-profit one that’s purpose is to promote “sustainable fashion” within the fashion world. During this time designers can show their “eco-collections”

According to them “the fashion industry is one of the most polluting industries impacting the environment.” So their goal for the future is to “a path towards sustainable and responsible fashion, by promoting the adoption of sustainable development models and responsible management systems.” They hope to make the fashion industry more “economically, socially and environmentally sustainable.”

Now down to the nitty gritty, designers keep it “eco-friendly” by using raw materials like “recycled or regenerated raw materials.” They also consider the same concept when making their packaging. They even try to reduce the use of natural resources like water and electricity! This helps reduce waste, which in the long term can help the environment. All to make it “a fashion friendly environment!” Designers also play a crucial role because through venues like social media they can help lead this “Green” way of life to everyone by showing how stylish yet eco-friendly you can be!

This actually there second time around the park and they are set to start today in Los Angeles and then moves to Las Vegas! Designers that were in the program these last seasons (Milano and Dubai) and that may make a return this year are:  Sohad Acouri | Kristina Burja | Caterina Da Siena | Jana Keller | Victoria Ladefoged | Elsien Gringhuis | Silvia Giovanardi | Etienne Jeanson | Francesca Liberatore | Fatima Lopes | Daniela Masias | Nelly Rose | David Tlale

Green Fashion Week 2017 is from March 31st until April 5th!

Just a little heads up: Later this year, on September they are going to go to Rome and Naples! So make sure to put that on your calendars!

Pantone’s Color of the Year!

On December 8th, Pantone announced the Color of the Year and it is…

Yea..I was a bit surprised as well…but well why Greenery?

“A refreshing and revitalizing shade, Greenery is symbolic of new beginnings.

Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate.

Greenery is nature’s neutral. The more submerged people are in modern life, the greater their innate craving to immerse themselves in the physical beauty and inherent unity of the natural world. This shift is reflected by the proliferation of all things expressive of Greenery in daily lives through urban planning, architecture, lifestyle and design choices globally. A constant on the periphery, Greenery is now being pulled to the forefront – it is an omnipresent hue around the world.

A life-affirming shade, Greenery is also emblematic of the pursuit of personal passions and vitality.”

By just reading their description, really makes you feel the Essence of Greenery huh?!

For those who are wondering about what is the Pantone Color of the Year and what is the big deal about it is, a little recap; The Pantone Color Institute, basically the global authority on color, selects a symbolic main one every year, “a color snapshot of what we see taking place in our global culture that serves as an expression of a mood and an attitude.” They also pick other colors for their palette. Believe it or not, their picks do effect your life more directly than you think. Once they pick a color its like you instantly see more of it everywhere! Whether you see it trending more in apparel, home decor, and even in most weddings of the year! Yes, this happens every year and since I have started my own site, I have tried to stay on top of this and keep you up-to-date on it. In celebration of their picks I also put their colors on my site 😉

Hope this upcoming year of 2017 is as fresh and hopeful as even Pantone sees it to be!

Best wishes, XO

If you didn’t know, along with Black History Month, February is also Body Positivity Month! & of course with that we must talk about the Body Positivity Movement and how it has been revolutionizing the fashion world!!!

The woman who seems to be the face of the Body Positivity Campaign seems to be this bombshell, Ashley Graham. I’m sure you have also seen her in previous post I did about Lane Bryant’s Plus is Equal campaign.

#PlusIsEqual #AshleyGraham
#PlusIsEqual #AshleyGraham

Now she is officially a Sports Illustrated Model! Last year, she took part in many things like Swimsuits For All and she definitely made a big bang when she modeled her own lingerie on the runway during #NYFW!!! (Her Modern Boudoir Collection with retailer Addition Elle can be found here!) She ran the Swimsuits For All ad in the magazine but this year she is being featured and has her own spread! (Fun Fact: Robyn Lawley was the first plus size model to be featured on Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition History on February 2015! Will be writing more about this later) Along with her there were two other women featured; Hailey Clauson at 5’11 size 4 and the strong yet beautiful Ronda Rousey at 5’7 size 4! This is not only a victory for these ladies but for every not-so-skinny, strong, and curvy woman of the world!! I love this Body Positive Movement!

DIY Nail Polish!?!?

This Summer I partook in more DIY experiments! Everything ranging from making my own face masks (link) to skin remedies (link)! Never thought of making my own nail polish though! Well at Handmade Beauty Box you can do just that!

At Handmade Beauty Box, other then nail polishes and face masks you can also make your own soaps, candles, bath fizzies, foot scrubs, even makeup like mineral makeup and even lipstick!! How can you get your own box to start your own DIY experiments? First, you pick your monthly subscription, 3-month or 12-month. Then they pack your monthly boxes with “quality ingredients so you can make beauty products at home.”

I love this concept here, would you ladies try this out?

The downside of Pedicures?!?

I know you must be thinking downside of pedicures?! What could possibly be a downside??

Well, when you constantly get pedicures and paint your nails all the time you may notice that your natural nails get a little yellowish. It is recommended that you let your little piggies air out for some time but what about if you don’t really want to do that? Even though I recommend at least a week there are also other alternatives to whiten those toe nails up!

If you know me, you know I love to save money and I love it when I have one thing that can be used for other things! The same things you use to whiten your teeth can be the same thing to whiten your toe nails!

Brush on whitening toothpaste with or invade your own kitchen cabinet and make a mix of water and baking soda! Or you can also  brush on a whitening pen! You can do each of these once a week and you will see results soon!

What is Micellar water and how is it good for you?!

Micellar water is a facial cleansing Game Changer!!

What is it? Well it’s not a toner and it’s not even a face wash but it cleanses your skin from dirt and even makeup without even having to rinse! It’s actually not even really a new product, it has been used in France for hundreds of years by women who did not want to use France’s harsh water on their faces.

Micellar water gets its name from ‘micelles’ which are tiny cleansing molecules that are found in water. Micelles trap dirt and oil and remove them efficiently without tightening your skin and stripping it of moisture! After you clean with Micellar water you are actually left with a beautiful glow!

How is it good for you? Believe me I am presently trying to be more healthy and natural with my skin that nowadays seems to be more oily then before. I know experts say that some oils are good for you and must be kept but I don’t want breakouts either! But at same time they also say you have to maintain a balanced scale of moisture for your face too. I love the matte look more than the oily look and feel so I am skeptical when it comes to anything that says ‘glow!’ but micellar water delivers as promises! I do feel my face clean and yet not stripped with a glow that doesn’t feel heavy or bothersome!

Below I am sharing with you different brands of Micellar water I have found (from $$ – $), hope you find one that is good for you, happy hunting!

Trusted brand, Perricone MD has their own blend but is ‘paired with Micellar molecules and Blue Plasma Technology': ‘Blue Plasma Cleansing Treatment’ for $39

Bioderma, a brand based in France (where they have more experience with Micellar water): Bioderma – Crealine H2O for $28

For Sensitive Skin: ‘La Roche-Posay Physiological Micellar Solution’ on sale for about $17

There is also for regular skin from same brand: ‘La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying Micellar Water” on sale for about $18 LRPEffaclar

And if you are like me that want to experiment first and at a good price, you can try that one I just purchased: ‘Simple’ brand with ‘Sensitive Skin Experts’ for $7

Color Special: ‘Marsala’!

Pantone, who predicts which color will be the trend for the year from everything from fashion to home decor, are raving about this new color for Spring 2015! Marsala is a naturally robust and earthy wine red.  “Exuding confidence and stability…Marsala is a subtly seductive shade, one that draws us in to its embracing warmth,” according to Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director, Pantone Color Institute®

Marsala is also very versatile! It is flattering to many different skin tones and can actually be worn by both women & men! When worn as a mani, texture makes a difference; with a matte finish Marsala gives a natural look while adding shine actually conveys glamour!

Pairing Marsala:

Marsala would go great with ‘Golden Ochre,’ ‘Gold Earth,’ and ‘Calypso Coral.’ (order from left to right)

Biotin: Woman’s Versatile Vitamin!

(Original posting on 2014/01/26)

Biotin is a versatile B vitamin! It is an important vitamin for healthy hair and skin!! If you have brittle nails and weak, falling hair you must take biotin supplements! On top of these, biotin is also great for weight loss! Reason being, Biotin helps to transform fats and carbs into energy you need daily. So, not only will you look good but you will also feel good! Win-win!

There are different mcg ranging from as low as 300 to as high as 7500! You should probably test out each amount just to make sure because for one person 7500 may be too much and ultimately a waste (fact: your body will only take what it needs the rest will just be disposed of! So you’ll literally be peeing money away (sorry for the detail but I am only sharing knowledge with you! ;))) while for someone else 7500 is good enough to see adequate hair growth.

I bought Biotin from The Vitamin Shoppe and you can also find at any pharmacy :)

New in MakeUp for Spring/Summer 2015

:  Go Bare!

That’s right! This Spring and Summer Season what is in, is to actually go barefaced! Ladies if you are big on makeup I can understand how this may be a bit difficult but this is the time to embrace your own imperfections that can actually be beautiful!

To maintain a beautiful complexion without makeup I recommend washing your face from the daily pollution and sweat & to not forgot moisturizing at night time is crucial! During this harsh cold winter we are having in NYC right now, a light day moisturizer is great for the work day.

Another advantage is that now that barefaces are going to be seen more, it can be motivation to take care of your face even more so!

Love & Natural Beauty to all you ladies xo
