Yes you read that correctly. Balenciaga, which is a great brand with great ideas, however is now under fire for straight up copying Ruff Ryder’s logo; and the person who called them out on it?
Fun Fact: Swizz Beatz was actually the producer behind the famous “Ruff Ryder’s Anthem.” Also, his uncle is the one who founded the group back in the late-80s.
You can see from the Balenciaga’s Spring 2018 Collection which debuted in Men’s Fashion Week just a couple of days ago in Paris
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time that designers have taken from the hip hop culture. Just last month Gucci was accused of designing a jacket that looked too similar to that of Dapper Dan’s. Even though it does get quite tricky with this case because Dapper Dan was copying off of Gucci as well all the way back in 1989! Love to see how designers are ahead of their time!
I cannot say that I am really surprised about this but I am excited that it is finally here! But to give you more info about what this event is all about, Green Fashion Week is actually a non-profit one that’s purpose is to promote “sustainable fashion” within the fashion world. During this time designers can show their “eco-collections”
According to them “the fashion industry is one of the most polluting industries impacting the environment.” So their goal for the future is to “a path towards sustainable and responsible fashion, by promoting the adoption of sustainable development models and responsible management systems.” They hope to make the fashion industry more “economically, socially and environmentally sustainable.”
Now down to the nitty gritty, designers keep it “eco-friendly” by using raw materials like “recycled or regenerated raw materials.” They also consider the same concept when making their packaging. They even try to reduce the use of natural resources like water and electricity! This helps reduce waste, which in the long term can help the environment. All to make it “a fashion friendly environment!” Designers also play a crucial role because through venues like social media they can help lead this “Green” way of life to everyone by showing how stylish yet eco-friendly you can be!
This actually there second time around the park and they are set to start today in Los Angeles and then moves to Las Vegas! Designers that were in the program these last seasons (Milano and Dubai) and that may make a return this year are: Sohad Acouri | Kristina Burja | Caterina Da Siena | Jana Keller | Victoria Ladefoged | Elsien Gringhuis | Silvia Giovanardi | Etienne Jeanson | Francesca Liberatore | Fatima Lopes | Daniela Masias | Nelly Rose | David Tlale
Green Fashion Week 2017 is from March 31st until April 5th!
Just a little heads up: Later this year, on September they are going to go to Rome and Naples! So make sure to put that on your calendars!
Now, don’t just go by the title in that these trends are just for the runway because that would be far from the truth! Yes you may see most trends first on the runway but it also depends on us to take it to the streets! Some trends that were seen during Fashion Week were:
1. Maybe the cold weather that inspired it but the puffer jacket has made its way on the runway more than I have ever seen before. Love. love, love the off the shoulder design added to the jackets!:
2. Protesting through clothing with outspoken tees or accessories (remember those hoodies and shirts for the March? Click here) Below are some that were on the runway:
3. One of my personal favorites I spotted was one of my favorite colors to wear, that beautiful rust and burnt orange color:
4. Another favorite I was happy to see on the runways was velvet! Good to see that velvet is not going to go away any time soon! I personally have recently purchased velvet everything, velvet dresses, heels and boots! Lol
5. You may have noticed some 80s inspired effects here and there like the metallics, ruffles, the one shoulder, and the power lady suit (this one I feel like has to be seen separately)! What do you say ladies want to bring some 80s into 2017?!
Of course there are many trends you can spot on the runway but not all of them are, for lack of a better word, realistic, to wear IRL. However, the ones that I picked to focus on are definitely easy to be to rock in the real world!

What is this “Fenty Puma” that you have been seeing around? Well, if you don’t know, now you know (%), it is the collabo of Rihanna with Puma.
Following herrunway debut as Creative Director in February at New York Fashion Week earlier this past February, the singer has now confirmed the collection will now be in stores worldwide.
Drop date is today the 6th:
Her collection was inspired by one of my favorite cultures of the world, Japan. “It’s Japanese street culture with a haunting twist. I played with texture and silhouettes and all of the fabrics are luxurious. I reinterpreted the traditional in my way.”
The AW16 Fenty Puma by Rihanna is now available online and at Puma stores as well as Harvey Nichols Kuwait and Level Shoe District in Dubai.
