Pantone’s Color of the Year!

On December 8th, Pantone announced the Color of the Year and it is…

Yea..I was a bit surprised as well…but well why Greenery?

“A refreshing and revitalizing shade, Greenery is symbolic of new beginnings.

Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate.

Greenery is nature’s neutral. The more submerged people are in modern life, the greater their innate craving to immerse themselves in the physical beauty and inherent unity of the natural world. This shift is reflected by the proliferation of all things expressive of Greenery in daily lives through urban planning, architecture, lifestyle and design choices globally. A constant on the periphery, Greenery is now being pulled to the forefront – it is an omnipresent hue around the world.

A life-affirming shade, Greenery is also emblematic of the pursuit of personal passions and vitality.”

By just reading their description, really makes you feel the Essence of Greenery huh?!

For those who are wondering about what is the Pantone Color of the Year and what is the big deal about it is, a little recap; The Pantone Color Institute, basically the global authority on color, selects a symbolic main one every year, “a color snapshot of what we see taking place in our global culture that serves as an expression of a mood and an attitude.” They also pick other colors for their palette. Believe it or not, their picks do effect your life more directly than you think. Once they pick a color its like you instantly see more of it everywhere! Whether you see it trending more in apparel, home decor, and even in most weddings of the year! Yes, this happens every year and since I have started my own site, I have tried to stay on top of this and keep you up-to-date on it. In celebration of their picks I also put their colors on my site 😉

Hope this upcoming year of 2017 is as fresh and hopeful as even Pantone sees it to be!

Best wishes, XO

#TBT Remember that Fashion Rule?

That almighty rule that one cannot wear white after Labor Day?! Well growing up I always wondered why this was such a big rule. Who made such a rule anyway!? Well there are many opinions to this rule..(you can read a funny one here) However, I am happy that this rule can be broken. One of my favorite celebrity styles, Nicole Kidman, broke this well-known fashion rule but looked great doing it.

You are probably like me and most likely saw Nicole Kidman more on red carpets to classy events always with a gown. But seeing her in this suit makes me believe she has more than gowns in her closet. Here she is attending the BFI London Film Festival in a crisp white blazer and wide leg pants (Alberta Ferretti) She paired her power suit with gold mesh Giuseppe Zanotti sandals of course. She completed her outfit with an Amanda Wakeley clutch. Her ensemble was simple yet stunning.

If you are interested in trying this look I found a couple of great white blazers $100 and under:

TopShop, $100
Mango, $80

Milan Fashion Week

For a little throwback Thursday I wanted to show you the highlights of Italy’s capital fashion city, Milan’s, fashion week AW 2016!

Far from the minimalist style Milan’s fashion week was all about big, bold and clashing prints that made their way on the runway by Marco de VincenzoPucci, Ferragamo, and D&G!

I am a fan of the waist cinching belts, I believe it makes just about anything beautifully feminine, whether it be wide or skinny belts! So I definitely noticed this on the runway. I loved Prada’s laced corset belts! & loved how they even put them on top of coats! Gucci accented their printed dresses with their signature colored belts & clasps. To make it even more feminine, Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini used studded pearls on black ribbons on their waists!

There also was a comeback of those annoying 80’s stirrup leggings lol remember those?!? Marni bought these out on the runway but made them look way more chic then they did before by pairing them with structured pointy flats

Another detail that was seen on the runways were the big, puffy sleeves or more specifically the balloon sleeves by Gucci, Marni and Prada offered an option with detachable velvet shoulder pieces!

One of my favorite themes was the Disney Princess theme that Dolce & Gabbana bought out!

One color that popped up the most on the runways, was the royal color Purple! All the shades by designers including Roberto Cavalli, ranging from plum to a deep violet like the grown & sexy velvet suits from Bottega Veneta. I also like the purple satin that Moschino bought out. Or go all monochromatic like Gucci with all purple everything!

Last but not least there are a few new designers that you should keep an eye on! In Arthur Arbesser‘s collection you definitely notice the tailoring and the light colors; with pink tweed and this Danube blue in corduroy velvet. Marco de Vincenzo definitely challenged you with his bold colors and putting together of different textures. Ujoh definitely easy going even making suits look comfy but simultaneously nicely modern!

Blush your outfit up!

If you are currently in NYC right now then you know exactly what I am talking about when I say that the weather is quite bipolar! This week is more on the happy side compared to last weekend where we had a blizzard! Today we are reaching middle 50s which inspires me to want to wear brighter colors. You may have already read my previous post about wearing pink during this season! (Well more like a nice blush pink or Rose Quartz from Pantone’s Spring 2016 Palette)

Amrezy’s Lip Line 👄

Amra, known as @amrezy on Instagram, is a fellow New Yorker being that even though she moved around a lot she did spend most of her time at New York! Amrezy has many followers.3,53 million to be exact. At first I thought she has a big following because maybe she does makeup tutorials but I did not find any when I was on her profile. She seems to have a lot of pictures up with makeup done and outfits.

Now she has her own lip line. She did a collabo with @liplandcosmetics. She debuted her lipstick line with 3 colors for her liquid lipsticks; ‘Brooklyn’, ‘Montenegro’, and ‘Rezy.’ You can find these at LipLand.
